Week1

5 Things learn aboutt the Sandbox Folder Structure

1. bin32 and bin64 are separately prepared for 32bit and 64bit Windows systems, and the later one could run more faster.
2. The "EDITOR" folder contains icons, UI data, settings, and templates that are used by Sandbox.
3. The "GAME" folder is of importance, almost everything is in the .pak files within GAME folder.
4. There are multiple stand-alone tolls and exporters in the TOOLS folder.
5. "Redistributable" files which are required by the Renderer and other systems are in the ENGINE folder.

10 tips and tricks related to the Sandbox User Interface.
1. Items can be isolated by typing their name in the SEARCH BOX.

2. Items can be edited separately by click LOCK SELECTION in the bottom after being selected.

3. The speed of perspective view port camera can be changed in the SPEED BOX, it is quicker when the number is larger.

4. TERRAIN COLLISION TOGGLE can prevent the camera going through only the terrain surface.

5. AI/PHYSICS BUTTON allows physics and AI behavior to be tested directly in the Editor without entering into game mode.

6. GOTO POSITION BUTTON allows user jumping to a specific position.

7. The ROLLUP BAR is the most important in the interface as it holds the objects creation, vegetation, terrain modifying and solid modeling tools.

8. The OBJECTS tab holds scene elements.

9. The TERRAIN tab contains the tools to modify terrain, vegetation.

10. The LAYERS tab control the layer setup.

5 Ways of Customizing Sandbox Editor Setup

1. Windows can be docked to one side by using DOCKING HELPERS;
2. A window can be docked as a tab in another window;
3. The layout of Sandbox Editor can be configured on the Display menu under CONFIGURE LAYOUT;
4. TOOLBOX, CONSOLE, and ROLLUP BAR etc. can be show/hide in the VIEW menu;
5. HELPERS can be show/hide under DISPLAY menu.

5 Shortcuts or Buttons

1. The shortcuts to the Terrain Editor, Terrain Texture Layers, and Terrain Lighting dialog box are located in   TERRAIN TOOLBAR;
2. The standard options like open, save, hold, and fetch are located in STANDARD TOOLBAR;
3. EDITMODE is one of the most useful TOOLBAR as it contains tools like undo/redo, link/unlink, movement, rotation, scaling, and etc.
4. LOCK SELECTION TOGGLE can prevent user from inadvertently selecting something else in a complex level;
5. The MODIFY button in Terrain tab of Rollup Bar is used to modify the terrain in the SandBox.
